I was looking to see if you'd pass our old house in AC and then got distracted by some other Angeles vids on that youtube page.
I lived there for a few years of course, but had to behave myself because the family were with me also.
Anyway, looks like you had a great time with some lovely people.
I'm not at all envious.

The first four days were spent in Angeles and it didn't rain at all. It was partly cloudy with hazy sunshine. It did start to drizzle in AC on our way to Boracay on the Wednesday and was more heavy from Kalibo onwards.
The first three days in Boracay had a pattern. Sunny with a bit of cloud in the morning then overcast with showers. The third and fourth day had particularly heavy and more prolonged showers but the next three days were glorious.
When we got back to Angeles it was raining but the final couple of days were sunny.
Jay Jays is an excellent hotel, the best we've stayed at out of the 6 in the Phils. Great hospitality, big clean modern room (2200p low season) and away from the noise of trikes & bars.
Originally we were going to stay in San Fernando but a couple of days before I was due to leave, Maria suggested that we stay in Angeles. It probably saved about £60 on taxi's or the hassle of getting to SF via jeepney/bus.Great videos Jamie !

We stayed at two hotels either side of going to Boracay, Rumi Apartelle and Hotel Hana - both around 1000p per night but I could only recommend the former.
I'm glad we stayed at Angeles, it's an interesting placeOn the same level as Boracay in terms of people in the street trying to make you part with your cash. But instead of jet ski rides, helmet diving and sunglasses it was viagra and girly bars.
My house was on Malabanias Rd Jamie, the road that runs from the back of Petron down to Hensonville, so I remember when Hotel Hana was first built and opened. It started off well, but seems to have deteriorated over the years.
I was never there for the bars (honestly... lol), but for the business from the expats and because I had friends and relations already there and running businesses. Just generally an easy place to live compared with some, plus schools accustomed to expat's kids.
I'd prefer to be in Subic now though...if not further afield
I only walked from the hotel up to the Petron station so I didn't go down the other part but it does seem a fairly quiet area.
The main part of Hotel Hana isn't too bad for a budget hotel but the rooms are dated with crappy decor.
I take it the Lewis Grand which backs onto the street wasn't built when you were there?
No, the LG has been built since I was living there.
The last hotel I stayed at there was the Pacific Breeze, but that was when it was new (and very nice) back in 2007.
I didn't stop in AC long...just dropped in out of curiosity really before heading over to Subic and then to Manila. I had my son with me and he (13 then) was a bit young to be walking about in that area of AC.
When we lived there he hadn't a clue of course...being a little kid.
That's what they all say hehehehe
Actually I met the ex in 1990...before I'd ever been to AC.
Ended up living there for about 7 years total though.
The eye candy is nice, but in reality I spent most nights at home with the kids watching the Simpsons etc on TV...much the same as here.Their mother was attending college in the evenings and watching her shop during the day.

Yeah, our first time Jamie....we've been meaning to go there on the last 2 occasions but, time limitations put the mockers it.
This time a big effort will be made..preferably the last few days of our visit....alot to cram in even though we are going for a month.
looking for some baby friendly hotels, not too far (if at all) off the beaten track.
Been looking on the net. The place definitely caters for all pockets

We went there in May and I really found it very crowded and a little bit over rated. If you have plenty of money to stay in the main part it may be OK but not as good as I expected. We have been recommended to try Palawan next time.

We went in the low season and it wasn't overcrowded especially around Station 1. Not sure what it's like in high season though.
I wouldn't say it was dirty either. Never saw any litter on the beaches. You're not allowed to smoke on White Beach too.
