I'm surprised this great news didn't get posted already.

I've been patient and waited long enough but I just can't wait any longer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's truly the biggest most important discovery of all time IMO

And I love the use of the word "poetry" in the headline.

The Higgs boson, which scientists at Cern appear to be homing in on after 45 years, gets its name, as everyone knows, from British physicist Peter Higgs, one of the first to propose its existence.

Its amazing what has been discovered in just a few hundred years. And no doubt more to come. Wish I could stick around for long enough to see whats yet to come...

In the beginning the Higgs created the heavens and the earth. But I figured who are people going to believe, God or some boson?

Not sure exactly what the Higgs Boson is.....but i bet the politicians are already trying to work out how they can tax it!

What has the Higgs Boson ever done for us?


A 200-tonne jumbo jet can be manufactured with inertia as low as that of a 20-tonne one, leading to huge savings in fuel costs. Or even better, a light weight interstellar ship that can zip across the space to make travel to Mars as convenient as the trans-Atlantic trip of today.
