Plenty of BS words on the o2 status page it's good to see they're driving the recovery.........................

05:40 - We're continuing to drive the recovery of this issue with our support teams and vendors. We're working to restore service as quickly as possible. Unfortunately we're unable to confirm any timescales for service restoration at this time. We'll let you know as soon as we can. We apologise once again for any inconvenience this incident is causing.

Seems the "problem" is, as yet, unknown.

I used the link to check status in our area, seems all is well. But not!

I'm at a loss as to how these things work - as I said can't make calls or text but email notification of your post just popped up on my Blackberry. No doubt o2 will will follow Blackberry's example last year when they had problems and refuse to give even part refunds of monthly contract payments

Like you, I have no idea how these things work or don't work.
Seems to be a UK problem and not just a few transmitter masts.

I think from the scant details they are giving it's not masts but chunks of numbers that can go in and out of service- mines showing full strength signal

Just heard on BBC news that 2G service is now fully functional.
O2 expect 3G service to be fully functional for all customers by the end of today.

At least when the string between the two cans breaks it's easy and fast to replace it.

I left the IOM and the IOM network on thursday morning. As soon as I arrived in Liverpool I picked up O2 at around 10 am. No problem.

    I was wrong

Mobile phone firm O2 will give compensation to hundreds of thousands of its customers after its network stopped working last week.

The firm says customers who pay monthly will get back 10% of their July subscription, the equivalent of three days' charges, applied to their September bill.

Pay-as-you-go customers will get back 10% on their first top-up in September.
