    RIP Neil Turner

This story is about my friend and work colleague Neil Turner who was sadly killed whilst cycling to work this week. Neil was only 31 and left behind his partner Paula and their 5 month old son Archie. Neil was a happy go lucky chap who will be missed by all.

Oh, Marco ... I'm so terribly sorry to read of your friend and colleague's tragic accident. How awful for his partner and baby son.

As a [former] keen cyclist myself, I am only too well aware of the ever-present dangers arising from the seemingly endless volume of traffic on today's busy roads.

Sincere condolences to his family ... and, of course, to you!

Very sad, my condolences. There really needs to be a way to make cycling safer and encourage it more in the city.

Sorry to hear that news. He sounded like a decent guy. If I'm not mistaken a lot of these incidents seem to happen in South London

I was only reading this morning a poice appeal after a driver who had knocked a woman off her bike in Walton, fracturing her arm then made off. Once again limp wristed non deterrent punishments have a lot to answer for.

Oh, that's very sad news to read Marco, and tragic for his family and friends.

You're so vulnerable on a pushbike.
I know I worry so much about my son when he's out and about on his, or he comes home with tales of near-misses because of stupid careless and reckless motorists.

I came so very close to being killed after being knocked down and injured on my own bike at the age of 16. The memory has never left me.

There are so many selfish and thoughtless motorists who go unpunished, parking in cycle lanes, opening their doors without looking, turning across cyclists when entering side-roads, changing lanes etc, and often the same ones who'd be having a go at cyclists.

You don't see many cyclists killing or injuring people though.

    Thanks everyone.
Theres nothing at the moment to suggest it was nothing other than a tragic accident as the car did stop.
It's just the total sadness from his families point of view. They had been trying for a long time to have children and she'd had a couple of late miscarriages. Then finally 5 months ago he was over the moon when his son was born and now this. Life can be so cruel sometimes.

Tragic marco so young too. I think I am right in saying that all members on here send their condolences to his partner and his family.
