Do you need to be screened for tuberculosis (TB)? Close

If you are a resident of one of the following countries, and you want to come to the UK for longer than 6 months, you must obtain a certificate confirming that you are free from infectious TB before you apply for a visa:

    Bangladesh
    Burkina Faso
    Cambodia
    Cote d'Ivoire
    Democratic Republic of the Congo
    Eritrea
    Ghana
    Kenya
    Laos
    Niger
    Pakistan
    Rwanda
    Somalia
    Sudan
    Tanzania
    Thailand
    Togo
    Uganda

The only exceptions are children under 11 years old,

Marie, I suggest that you have a look at this thread :-
    http://filipinaroses.com/showthread....long-way-to-go. , especially # 20 and # 22.
It comes as a surprise to many people that tuberculosis ( TB ) is one of the most important infectious causes of serious illness in the world. This includes the Philippines and to a lesser degree the UK. The Philippines will be included in a pre-entry screening programme.
A second surprise is that a Chest X -ray is not the only test needed to diagnose TB.
The third surprise is that - once diagnosed - TB is treatable, but only with the right drugs for the correct length of time.
