Hi everyone - new to this site and registered to see if there are other people out there in the same situation! - I feel very lonely while my Surigao girlfriend is trying to sort a passport etc. I know the culture is different, but is it so difficult to get the applications etc in? - i really want to trust her, but doubts creep in about her sincerity etc. - am i being too `western` here? - i would appreciate anyones thoughts etc. regards mark

Hi mark hope your doing great.I wonder how long is your relationship with your gf from PI?Things is not easy to process really in PI specially when it dealt about that matters.you`ll be mad specially when it comes to application visa process.so come on! cheer up and support your gf.

why do you feel you doubt her trust ? how long have you known her? have you ever meet her ? if so how many times.

filipina's are women, and just like men, are humans beings , there are good and bad ones everywere. but like the majority of humans they are decent people.. (just makes me laugh when 2 libyans i work with tell me they don't have gays or crime )..

sometimes its not all plane sailing for all the users on here in their relationahip with filipina's , for most it is. for a few not so, me included, but after nearly 5 years of being married, or is it 6 .. damn forgot.. it is now . you can work any problems out or doubts you have, as me and my wife had, and early on we had 'major' problems..

yes i know that, but they try to tell people what a great place it is , and **** off the UK, well like i and others tell them at work, why dontyou go back then, why you still here... infact i dont think they let 'tourist's' travel freely around the place, who would want to..

After reading much more of this site and your comments - i feel much better. Maybe i am just feeling a bit insecure or impatient because i am used to everything happening straight away. I have been talking to my girlfriend for many months on yahoo (even my father and daughter love talking to her). I went to Surigao in April to meet her. I can only describe the meeting as magical - after only a few hours with her i realised just how good a relationship can feel. Since then i have been asking her to get a passport so she can visit her and see how things go `in the real world`. Wynn is also booked on a cruise in December for my parents wedding anniversary. I will also visit her again very soon because i miss her so much.
Sorry if this thread is sounding like an agony aunt column, but it is good to talk about this to people who have or are having the same experiences. I would also love to hear from anyone in Yorkshire with a view to talking about this.

I don't want to put a downer on things for you Mark, but getting a passport is the least of your problems if you are planning for her to visit here (UK) - "so she can visit her" - was this a typo, did you mean "so she can visit here". If so the real problem will be getting a tourist visa because unless she is wealthy, or has a businesses or lots of property in Philippines etc, the chances of her getting a tourist visa to visit you in the UK are almost nil.

Does anyone know if this difficulty in getting a tourist visa apply to wives as well as girlfriends?

My wife (still in the Phils) wants to visit the UK while I finish my work contract, maybe from October to January, then we head off back to the Phils together. It's just too difficult to live apart. In our favour, I have enough money to look after us both (can provide pay slips), professional job (respectable? lol!), we're married, and I've travelled over there 4 times to be with her (totals a few months of living together there). Her situation is that she still lives with her parents (so no property) and has just resigned from her job (voluntary redundancy with a nice pay-off). My work contract will end in January also which could be evidence that we don't want to stay long.

The tourist visa seems a lot cheaper than the settlement visa which is overkill for what we need, but I've also heard about the high refusal rate. I wasn't sure if that was because the tourist visa applications were of a poor standard, the authorities are working to a quota system or or because they're just tightwads.

After reading this site, I've seen a few people have had tourist visas to visit boyfriends / fiances, but there is a high refusal rate. Would being thorough like the recommendations for settlement visas make a difference?

Although it is much more expensive, I think you have much more chance of getting a spousal (Settlement) visa. Looking on the bright side, if your wife does get the spousal visa, it will last for 2 years instead of just 6 months and she can come and go as she pleases during that period.

: mark...you got the same name with my husband-to-be..anyway, am new to the site and ive read about your agony..its a natural feeling to be in doubt since its a distance love affair..but you gotta give your trust if you do really love her..ignore those pea-brained people with narrow thoughts and understanding..and if you want a fast track passport and visa processing better, go with your girlfriend in brtitish embassy and provide all the documents needed..passport takes a week to get..you can visit <LINK REMOVED> to guide you in visa processing..if you completed all the necessary documents required it would only be very easy for both of you..better get the fiancee' visa rather than a tourist visa..tourist visa is a little bit tricky for your girlfriend since she have to show financial documents, list of properties, etc...hope it helps..good luck to both of you..

Nbi clearance is just like a police check here in the uk. Nothing to worry about for most brits or phills.
