it will not make much difference to your visa app if you marry in the Phils or the UK. as you still need to met the criteria - eg have meet and are in a genuine relationship, your partner can support you without the need for recourse to public funds and you have a place to live without it being over crowded.
The pro's for marrying in the Philippines are that its cheaper, you can get an awful lot more for your money and have a much grander wedding for less. Your fiances family will be able to attend, and this will allow you to really bond from the start, and will be very very important to your mahal in showing them your commitment.
It won't make an real difference in terms of visas.
We got married in the Philippines in a Catholic Church with a beach resort reception, and have no regrets.
You're a guy right?
Well come on - the whole wedding thing, it's something really special to the women (and it should be to you too, but it's extra special to her).
If it means her family can attend, you can make it really special (for less), then I'd say bend for her feelings and have it over there
You should have a gut feeling what she would prefer. If she would prefer in UK, then maybe consider this.
As for if it's easier for visas, well I can't say about that, but some people have suggested spouse visas are slightly easier to get than fiance visas. I'm not sure entirely how that should be, but.........well, guess it doesn't matter too much. Maybe I read that wrong
Well I guess the fact that you actually got married suggests SOME extra commitment when applying for a spouse visa.![]()
do we apply for a settlement visa or a family visa now we are married
I don't know what a family visa is.
If it's just for your wife, then it's a Spouse (settlement) visa she'll be wanting.![]()
my wife is still in Philippines we got married there. Do we still apply for a settlement visa and who applies me or my wife
i thought with the new rules there is a 5 year probation period before you can get a settlement visa.
no its 5yrs of living in the UK before your partner can apply for Indefinite leave to remain (ILR) it use to be 2yrs
hi thanks so that means we apply for which visa ? for her to come here and who applies me or her
She has to apply. You can obviously help with the form filling though and getting proof together, but it will be an application in her name I mean
hi
thanks. The type of Visa would be a settlement visa is that right
so which visa a settlement visa or a spouse visa. I though the settlement visa is for after the 5 year probation period .I need clarity on this. Please can you make you mind up is it a Spouse Visa or a settlement visa
Calm down fella
It's a spouse visa, but it can be called a settlement visa. Don't worry, it's very unlikely you could apply for the wrong one.
Spouse visa = visa for your wife to join you here for an initial 5 years
Settlement visa aka ILR for your wife to live her permanently after 5 years - the idea being if it was a fake marriage it would have broken down by then.
Hope this helps
Marry her thereShe deserves and also she may not see her family for quite a while after that. Yes far cheaper but the flights will make up for a cheaper wedding
I worked it it will cost me £8000 next year and most of that is flights 3 times and her flights back plus internal flights, spouse Visa, CENOMA. CNI, wedding, Honeymoon, 30 days there, 1 week in March there, Rings, etc .... worth every penny!

yes we got married on 17th July in Antipolo
thanks best wishes for your future together
you might be a bit confused, its not really a settlement visa, but a spouse visa 'leads to settlement' while most other visa's dont.
