Hi.
I just wondered for future reference.
Do they take into account the qualifications of the person you marry in making a decision about whether to grant a spouse visa ?.

No, as you are the Sponsor they are only interested in whether or not you can support her (and that the relationship is genuine) and that she's of good character...police checks etc done at her end, plus telling the truth about her 'civil status'.
She can be totally uneducated and without a single peso as long as she can pass the English tests.
My ex never completed high school, due to poverty, but she's a lot brighter than I am.
in the past they might have done, but now they do not look at your partners potential earnings.
They didn't bother checking the ex's financial/job status 20 years ago Joe...or how many kids she had.
no, but ..
If the financial standing is marginal, and if the applicant has plans to work in the UK, a job offer letter can be included to bolster the application's strength; and failing all other evidence, the applicant may attach a CV (or academic credentials) which demonstrate favorable prospects. Note however, that this is generally the weakest form of evidence.
anyway this no longer applies..
Yes, I remember my mate being cautioned about putting 'Bar Girl' down for his fiancee's occupation though.
