Even the bloody news is being relayed from the venue.

It's all very well - for sporting enthusiasts. But what viewing choices are left for *those of us who are indifferent?

*We should be receiving a rebate on our TV Licences!!!

OK ... ... there're always the numerous Commercial channels to fall back on - assuming one doesn't mind watching endless repeats interspersed with infuriatingly noisy adverts.

I find myself echoing Dedworth's pre-Games sentiments, I'm afraid.

I don't know why, but I feel detached from this olympics thing. I mean, normally when this is on, I like having it on in the background, but I've felt like even though it's in my own country, it's distant from my life.

Maybe I just have too much on right now.

Can't help wondering what that olympic park is going to look like 4 years from now

... that's NOT strictly true! It's a healthy outlet ... there's no denying it. Let's just say I preferred participation (when much younger, of course) to spectating - which, frankly, bores me.

Believe me, I do! But recently the BBC has been televising a bit much of it for my liking. It becomes tedious eventually.

I am a non sport lover, if it was all on one channel it would be better for all, thoes who want to watch it and thoes who want to ovoid it.

I'm a huge fan of the Olympics. Always have been.
Not just the sporting aspects but also the whole range of participation, emotional highs and lows, dreams made and lost, dedication etc etc. Fascinating.

But, I do agree with Arthur. Far too many BBC channels providing coverage.

In fact in some ways the coverage levels actually causing over-saturation and turning people away from the whole Olympic period. Shame really.

The BBC are running this with masses of overpaid staff all with their snouts in the publicly funded expenses trough. There will be far more of them on the job than the entire 500 strong Team GB

You're right there.
Why do they need so many so called 'experts' who make no meaningful contribution to the experience?
Also, my pet hate at the mo is the number of 'special guest appearances'.
If they're doing it for free that's fine, but I'll bet there's something in it for them

I do have another reason for agreeing with Arthur's rant, however.
My neighbours are a family of Syrians, peace-loving like the majority. One of them is a respected and valued consultant at our local hospital ( in a different medical specialty to President Assad, who trained as an eye surgeon in London ). Putting aside questions as to why the UK needs foreign specialists, the fact is ... they're here and desperate to know what is happening to relatives and friends in their home city of Aleppo. I share their concern.
We can't rely completely on the BBC for balanced news reporting - how often is there mention of the Philippines ? Indeed some may feel there's enough coverage of events in Syria - but while the Olympics are on we have to wait, whether we like it or not, for news of this civil war and developing humanitarian crisis - trivialised by being relayed from the Olympic venue.

Not everybody has Sky etc....I believe the BBC at the moment are doing the likes of Sky and Virgin media a great service...membership should rocket.

Well yeah..me too...Cbeebies 12hr a day 7 days a week is certainly good value for my monthly £12 a month direct debit.

It hasn't always been like that for me though...like the people raving about the sport now will probably be thinking differently in the years to come when other things take priority.

A good example springs to mind with a n ex Spurs player called Mickey Hazard...when he retired like most footballers they got nowhere to go..Micky choose to be a London black cab driver....he said passing the knowledge test had been his greatest achievement so far in his life.

As for the British Broadcasting Corporation being the on top of the game...I dont know so much...look at what they didn't do with football, boxing and now f1....they hardly put up a fight to keep those key sports on terrestrial tv did they..I dont remember being consulted on what to do with our licence fees..its a disgrace!

Look at f1 last Sunday on the radio5 live...sounds bites ..that was it.....what did we have, a run up bleeding box hill by a bunch of nobodies....honestly, absolutely disgraceful.

Yes, there was 5 live extra...unfortunately digital radio is not available in my truck.. ...they, the bbc make me sick!...panda to the masses...that's there style.

So there was me looking forward to the excellent commentary of the Hungarian gp...what did I hear...nobodies running up box hill...if I heard box hill mentioned dozen times over the course of a couple of hours, it wasn't a lie....budget..do me a favour..more like one of the big cheeses relations in the race would be more near the truth.

The BBC are doing a fantastic job, covering not just the major sports, but the minority ones that only get therir moment in the limelight during the Olympics.

I am absolutely LOVING the Olympics and will be gutted once it's over.
