my wife got here spouse visa approved and has been here 2 months and she is 8 weeks pregnant thank god
Anyway my question is one so I can prepare for when she has to make her application for Indefinite Leave to Remain. What are the requirments ie paper work that kind of stuff .

We are trying to keep a pile of letters / documents that prove we share the same address. So far we have tenancy agreement, joint bank account, joint electricity bill, any mail from the authorities eg Tax Office, Council, GP, hospital etc etc and just plonking them in a box in readiness.
We have also bought the Life in the UK Test books for her to start looking at towards the beginning of her 2nd year here.

One thing, Reema, I think the requirements for the Isle of Man are a little (not a lot) different to the mainland UK. Also the Life in the UK test includes about 5 questions specifically on the IOM (on Tynwald and stuff like that).Thanks Patrick for asking this question! We are just waiting till about Christmas, after everything has settled down and with about 10 months to go for us, and then look more thoroughly into it. I am hoping that the Isle of Man keep their ILR prices down...

Suggestion to the Mods. How about an IOM Sticky of some kind as things can be slightly different after the initial settlement visa and could cause confusion to those on the UK mainland......
Seems to be the same price as the UK. But cant see an option for same day processing. Hopefully they will process ILR a bit quicker here.....
They processed my wife's ILR in a week Lastlid as the IOM can make it's own decision about the ILR without any need to go to the UK cap in hand!
Annoyingly though, the IOM doesn't stick an actual ILR visa in the passport though. They just stick a stamp in, then provide you with 2 different letters you need to carry with your passport. Those letters are to be shown to immigration when returning to the UK to explain that the ILR stamp in the passport is genuine! Be interesting to see how that works for my wife when we return from the Far East next April!

Heres how I arranged my documents (note: no staples / no paperclips..separate the originals and photocopies of each)
Scanned copies of all the passports
Marriage certificate
3 months bank statements (both husband and I)
Payslips (both husband and I)
P60 (both husband and I)
KOL notification letter (Life in the UK TEST)
Cohabitation letters both husband and I for 2years (note: we just submitted from 3 different sources)

after being in the UK for 6months and after doing the appropriate research , I felt confident enough to take the Life in the UK test ...which I did take and passed
