I thought it was a very second rate show/ceremony with some unsavoury characters who I am ashamed to share my British birthright with eg Russell Brand, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell

    Good pics though

Yeah, but the overall presentation and the extravagant ceremony that you brits prepared for the world is remarkable, unforgetable and so FAB.

It's somewhat incongrous to have those obscenely paid, drug addled specimens at the celebrations for the closing of what is I suppose the worlds greatest sporting contest

"Russell Brand covering The Beatles, Ed Sheeran covering Pink Floyd, Jessie J singing We Will Rock you (which caused lots of outrage from Queen fans), Kaiser Chiefs performing Pinball Wizard of The Who and letting us believe that The Who wouldn’t appear at the ceremony which proved wrong. Roger Daltrey and Co. themselves closed the whole ceremony performing My Generation. What an end!"

http://rekwired.com/news/muse-the-wh...sing-ceremony/ I thought this summed it up quite well.

I thought that the overall light show itself including fireworks, was worth going to see in its own right.

Cleverly done but also very effective.

I am not a great fan of Damien Hirst's formaldehyde sheep stuff but the Union Jack he designed in the stadium was great...

    Cameron praises "safe" Olympic Games

""Prime Minister David Cameron said London had hosted a "safe and secure" Olympics and thanked volunteers, the army and police for transforming the Games into what he said had been a successful global advertisement for Britain.

Trailing only the United States and China, Britain won 29 gold medals in the Games, its best result in 104 years, helping to divert some attention from the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and the unpopularity of Cameron's government.

I hate being miserable and negative, but I didn't rate the closing ceremony at all, especially compared to the magnificent, inspiring opening ceremony. Some bits worked well, such as "The Bright Side of Life", but most of it was rubbish.

The opening ceremony was Brunel, the NHS and Tim Berners-Lee. The closing ceremony was George Michael, the Fashion Industry and Russell Brand. I know which of these made Britain Great!

I thought the 1st half was sooooooo boring and dull (well except the one with Jessie J) and then the 2nd half was okay..not as great as the opening ceremony.. George Michael shouldn't have been there or he could've at least sang better songs..and the models!!! what's the point of them being there?!

I suppose that whoever they put on, it wouldn't have suited everybody. Not all acts suited me either. But overall I thought it was great. Like the pictures above in the first post, visually the TV footage was a little bit special.
