And ... instead of returning to the Sub-Continent ... they sallied forth (like "Willies of Normandy" with their "conkers") amongst the Sassenach and multiplied! Tut tut!

I have been to Brighton, but don't remember seeing that there. (But it was as a kid, though.)

I was going to say Royal Pavillion Brighton but was thrown by the minarets which made think it was a mosque thrown up recently in a Northern mill town. Very clever

Thats what I thought too. And I recall Andy asking about the cost / funding of building the mosques and thought

Looks a bit tooooo grand for a northern mill town though.....

Would make a great curry emporium though...

    Evidently not....

"The Royal Pavilion is a former royal residence located in Brighton, England. It was built in three campaigns, beginning in 1787, as a seaside retreat for George, Prince of Wales, from 1811 Prince Regent. It is often referred to as the Brighton Pavilion. It is built in the Indo-Saracenic style prevalent in India for most of the 19th century, with the most extravagant chinoiserie interiors ever executed in the British Isles."

When I get a chance next year I might visit Brighton and have a look at it. It kind of looks impressive....

    Yep thats true enough!
I used to go to Brighton a lot as a kid...but then there were two piers and lots of old style penny arcade machines.
Brighton is still worth a visit just to wander along 'The Lanes' ...and of course visit the Royal Pavilion.

A visit to Brighton always reminds me of the Graham Green novel Brighton Rock which also depicts it as being rather seedy.
