Oh. So you may still have a 5.25" drive in that?

Joe. There is no need for the kind of storage space that you may think one might need with one of these newfangled tablets. What do you think one would want to store on an iPad that would require so much space?

Just been chatting to our IT chap who used to be a Global IT specialist for BP in Aberdeen. Our lot have both Galaxy 2s and iPhones up there for work purposes. He gave me the unbiased lowdown. The extra gig just isn't necessary. Don't need it. Just needs a change of mindset.

Yes, I have a similar card in this PC now, but we tend to use my son's (high spec) laptop and just hook that up to the TV to play streamed movies, DVDs etc.

I dont. The wife does. On holiday, around the house, in the air, in the car, anywhere. Great for kids in the car on a long journey.

I find it too big myself.

But a businessman would use it on the hoof. At work, in the coffee shop, in a clients office, on the train etc etc etc

    These things are multifaceted.

Well I was a businessman 'on the hoof' for many years...driving all over the country, and never felt the need for one. Mobile phone was/is enough.

The only reason I would get one is to surf the net while having my sarnies...now that my little TV is about to become obsolete through loss of analogue signal. Maybe I'll just try hooking up a freeview box to it.

Dashboard is going to get a bit crowded though.

Bottom line is, if you are looking for a tablet then you don't need a lot of storage, even if you are a movie enthusiast and like HD.

Theres all types of business, Graham. Depends on what your business is.
    Obviously no use while driving...

I see people using them for business purposes all the time.

How did they manage before lap-tops etc ?

A lot of it is just one-upmanship bollox.

Most just use them for personal use in my experience...but nice of the company to splash out for them.

Thats the problem. Its an envy thing. Now we hit the nail on the head. But you can apply that to anything. Back to the car analogy.

I just googled this Joe. WOW and so cheap. And not so bulky either. And I can see its place, the sort of thing my last employer was using a couple of years ago and no doubt using now ( I will be bougard what the term was then - have tried googling it - a box that stores data in the terabyte range - maybe they became obsolete...* ) I think they were talking of storing remotely, ultimately, anyway (not cloud or anything, just to a remote server - by satellite or fibre optic cable).

I don't see many people wanting 3 TB from a tablet. Like I say, what they put in the iPad is enough.

    Later..... Got it....NAS Drive *

The thing that first put me off iPhones and iPads is that they don't have removable SD cards (first thing I look when buying phones is if it has removable SD cards) ..I store all my photos, videos and important documents in SD cards, always have been (and then has back ups on thumb drives, laptop, external hard drive, etc. hahaha )...It helps a lot in case the phone crashes and it needs system restore..at least if my phone gets broken, I won't lose my important stuffs.

Only in the US, not the rest of the world.

Samsung, or anything for that matter, running Android is much better as its open source software, whereas a lot of Apple stuff is locked to Apple products, and it takes ages for Apple to update it's OS, Adroid updates can be pretty rapid. Samsung products are usually more expandable, replacement higher power battery, memory, etc

Im not gonna pretend im as clued up as win2win on IT....but I know a rip off when I see one...I looked at getting iphone on the end of my last contact....I couldn't believe the battery was sealed...really the bain of all cellphone users...I asked salesman what happens when the battery has given up holding charge, how do I replace it....he said you cant...he said most people replace their phone annually thus not needing to replace battery.....I still got phones...phones years old still giving immeasurable pleasure in the Philippines all on the strength of replacing batteries.

no need for one on holiday got my smart non Apple mobile if i need an email, built in camera etc. dont need a bulky pad i cant fit in my pocket.
in the air, most airlines have pretty good selection of films\games you can watch and play as dont spend enough time in the air to justify having one, same reason for not having one in a car, why the need to ?
    kids both have nds Xl's
even thou i've got a hp touch pad with android never hardly use the thing, only reason i bought it because i got it cheap.

i just dont need to use the inet when am not at home or work, and if i really do, i've got my old trusted HTC mobile.

Of course! I don't personally use an iPad at work. Never have down. I use a desktop or laptop. But there is a strong market for tablets for a range of reasons.

Currently I have a great HD display with cordless mouse and an excellent keyboard.
