King Philip of Spain was indeed married to Queen Elizabeth's sister.. after her death, he sent love letters to her, he wanted to marry her and become king and make Britain into a catholic nation, but in return Queen Elizabeth sent him back canon balls.. soon after he sent the armada.. then they got their asses handed to them
He was married to Queen Mary and was King of England and Ireland, that all changed when Elizabeth took the throne lol..
Interesting Robert. My ex wife was very well up on the history of britain etc and my ex gf was well into Tudor history. But it has always been a weak point of mine. I managed to get myself through a few episodes of the Tudors a couple of years ago so picked up a smidging then.

Correct ... Mary Tudor inherited her Catholic faith from her mother, Katherine of Aragon - the first of Henry's wives - and, towards the end of her relatively short reign, became better-known as 'Bloody Mary' (NOT, of course, to be with the modern tomato juice based cocktail of the same name! ) due to her relentless religious persecution of the [then] new Protestant dissenters.
