Count yourself lucky steve I work two weekends in every month. I know what you mean though.
i have to work 5 saturdays a year but say work, ts a few hours, thats part of my contract, but sometimes something comes up where i will volunteer to do a saturday run, say 4 hours max but i will demand a days extra holiday for doing that
Good contract steve. When I worked in a factory I used to do 4 nights and saturday was overtime. Those days have gone.
It's the same at school, you were always knacked when it was time to get up for school, but come Saturday, wide awake at the crack of dawn. Weird.
I also work nearly all Saturdays - but it's Saturday evenings, so that lie-in can still be achieved. Then again, half 8 is a lie in for me, I don't need much sleep
Here our weekends are Thursday and Friday. If I have a duty on a weekend day or public holiday (runs 8am to 8am following day) I get a day off in lieu. However if we are at sea on the weekend then I lose that day. But it's not often we go to sea on a weekend unless we are on a voyage (very rare).
The rest of the time we work 07:30 to 14:00 sat-wed, so not too bad.
Admittedly I do wake up early on the weekends, but make up for it with a noon nap :-)
From when I was 21 years old until I was 40, I was an HGV driver and I think in all those years I only had about a dozen or so weekends off! Never had a day off sick in my life.
now days with all the laws you are only allowed to drive for so many hours per week,
guys, you must be thankful that you have work. me, i have none because my FLR is taking too long
... everyday's a "holiday" for me! But than ... ... I'm retired!
