why embassy don't accept online bank statements

I've just read why the embassy don't accept online bank statements,
Under the provisions of the Data Protection Act the bank cannot divulge any information regarding an account - not even to confirm or deny that an account exists!

also my wife who works for the nhs, showed me a form she had to sign, basically it was about fraud, and saying the nhs would share her employment details to government bodies to prevent and stop fraud.. so will banks be next

what happened to the data protection act

oh i didn't really mention why they don't want online statements, because they are easy to fake, and because of the data protection act, they cannot check with the bank if the statement is real or what balance you really have in the account

It's easy to print of a real bank statement with anything on it if you have a copy of at least one of the templates. You can download them off the net......You can get a Phd as well

Joe, you make a vaild point. I bank with HSBC, and they just introduced paperless banking, and I know other banks such as Cahoot, Easy Money and Egg all likewise. BT have also introduced paperless billing which include an address, whereas HSBC online statements don't, so under the current (and past rules) these would not be admissable as evidence at the Embassy. Having said that when Elsa made her Spouse Visa application 2 years ago, I printed out my credit card statements from the online banking, and they seemed happy with that.

one of my old bosses, bought one of those 'lord' titles on line, and he sometimes used it what a .

from what i've read on other forums, i wonder if they are bothered about credit card statements, from what i've read, some people who went to PEO for FLR visa, the immigration officer there only took a few bank statements and no other finanical evidence from the applicant.
