can anyone tell to me, what is the procedure for getting driver's license ??

do i need to do the theory test before i apply for learner's driving license ?

my husband didnt have that theory when hes learning drive before ...

I don't think you need to have taken the theory test before you apply for a learners license.

My wife got her provisional (learners) license the other week. It's a bit different here in the Isle of Man, but I think it is the same in terms of not requiring the theory test before the learners licence is applied for.

My wife got hers through the post office.

i think you get your provisional licence first, take theory test and pass before you can take the normal driving test

What I did, 1. went to the post office asked for the application form for provisional driving licence, then I filled it all with my details- then attached my picture on it.
2. Sent the form and my documents such as (Philippine passport; BRP; and the postal money order of £50) to DVLA swansea. Also you need to include the self-addressed envelope for your documents to be return safely.
I waited for 2 weeks then I got my provisional driving licence together with my documents.
And so my husband booked a driving lesson for me in AA for 19hrs- and I am now having my lesson every friday.
phew .. non-stop expenses eh? but we gotta do this for our own sake. GOOD LUCK to us..

Look here for details on how to apply for a first UK provisional driving licence.

You cannot apply online unless you have a valid UK passport and can provide addresses of where you have lived over the last three years.

You will need to send your passport to DVLC for some time, so be careful on your timing.

There are no tests to take in order to secure a provisional driving licence just make the application.

hehe, you can apply rhaine. They will usually require you to submit a picture signed by someone professional here in the UK who knows you for a year... But I think we can go down to Ipswich and they can sign it for us.. We are planning to visit their office tomorrow, I will update you about it

my hubby want to go to post office today and bring my documents so they can check if im allowed to apply ...

we are a bit rush because his brother want to go to france and belgium before christmas with my husband but he dont want to come with his brother without me ...
