What is this x-ray malarkey all about anyway why is one needed?

Supposedly, Alan ... it's a precautionary measure implemented by British Immigration Authorities to ensure that persons entering the country from abroad are free from, and/or unlikely to be carriers of, tuberculosis.

Basically it amounts to: "TB or not TB?" ... that is the question!

Strangely ... some airports insist upon X-ray proof, while others DON'T.

TB so weird. I was thinking it had to be something to do with extreme drugs or weapons smuggling

I don't really think that we would need that as we are coming through Belfast International - a small set up there not even active customs about.
