My wife went to the hospital today to get her chest x-ray, she had booked an appointment a few days before.
She was refused a chest x-ray because she did not have a letter from the British Embassy asking for the x-ray
Is this right or are the hospital just being a pain in the ....?
i went to private clinic when i get my chest x'ray ... they just ask me if where do i need the x'ray and i said its for travel.

Strangely ... some airports insist upon X-ray proof, while others DON'T.
i arrived in heathrow airport .. and they checked my x'ray .. i went to two immigration desk before i have my stamp

The topic of Chest X Ray has appeared several times on different threads during my time on the forum. It is certainly not “ malarkey “ ( nonsense ), but neither is a “ normal “ Chest X Ray a guarantee of good health.
Currently a Chest X Ray may or may not be required on arrival at a UK airport.
However, if you do have one it would be sensible to bring it together with the report, along with any other medical record(s), such as record of vaccinations, you may have. Travel insurance will be invalid if you don’t declare pre-existing medical conditions – and you won’t know you have them unless a medical check up confirms you’re healthy. This is unlikely to be free, especially in the Philippines.
It will also be helpful when registering with a doctor ( GP ) in the UK. No matter whether the X Ray is reported as “ normal “ or an abnormality is reported, it forms a useful record for comparison if ever a further X Ray should be needed in the UK. The first thing a specialist ( radiologist ) doctor would wish then to do is compare the original with the new X Ray. Chest X Rays and all other images taken are normally retained at the local hospital, so they can, if needed, be reviewed or sent as digital images to specialists elsewhere.
New measures have been announced by the UK Home Office – to replace airport-based screening ( where it exists ) with a pre – entry screening programme. They WILL apply to the Philippines. This means migrants wanting to enter the UK for more than 6 months will – in future - need to be screened before they are granted a visa. The UK government claims this will save the taxpayer, by not screening here and also requiring treatment – if needed - in the country of origin.
Pre – entry screening usually applies to active lung TB, since it poses the greatest risk of infecting others. It’s already been piloted in several countries ( not the Philippines ). The intention is to “ roll out “ screening to countries such as the Philippines over the next year or so.
Screening for TB may include – in addition to a chest X Ray – a Mantoux skin test, a blood test, sputum ( spit ) sample if you have a cough, and other clinical tests depending on symptoms. The ( future ) cost - effectively added to that of the visa – will depend on where, and what, tests are available and treatment needed.

Please note the above advice is NOT just about obtaining a Chest X Ray, and tuberculosis. It’s to make the points that a health check up is required for travel insurance - and strongly recommended anyway. Good health is not just about genes and lifestyle choices. The best chances of successful treatment always depend on early diagnosis, if possible screening before any symptoms are present.

She went to two hospitals and they both asked for a letter. Then she went home and found a letter from a company in Singapore that had offered her work in the past. She flashed this letter and got the x-ray
Was not that bad only 700 peso. My wife is in the Philippines and i am in the UK, we are applying for visa in less that 2 weeks. Just want every document that she might need.

She got the chest x-ray that is what mattered to my wife and I. If i had paid over a 1000 peso i would have been ok with it.
Different hospitals and different area will charge different prices.
