I was thinking the same yesterday when it was on the news obviously hope the girl fully recovers but why didn't the Pakistani Govt arrange for her to go to a lavishly equipped middle eastern Muslim hospital ?Originally Posted by andy222

I understand what they are saying, as immigration in this country has screwed us for £Billions over the decades, and most folk have just about had enough of it. She's out of hospital now and is allowed to stay in this country for five years as her father who joined her in the U.K managed to get a job.
How is this so?

The thing is she was a victim waiting to happen as soon as she defied the taliban edict of no education for girls,they were burning and destroying schools at the time she was keeping her BBC blog,you cant protect a girl in a place like swat and her family already knew there were threats being made on her life,she probably wont go back to pakistan,her family neither as her dad isnt Mr PopularHigh profile cases like this do change things,this time hopefully for education for girls,had she been just another kid who wasnt keeping a BBC blog and been shot for it an act which captured world media attention,in that area she would have just been shot and forgotten about.

It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.
It's great to see she's left hospital now. With all the hatred for this country in far flung hell holes it's a celebration of what separates them from us. When a young girl needed life saving treatment we opened our doors and welcomed her and her family here. I salute all the doctors and nurses who played a part in her recovery.
It seems now that she is being allowed to stay here along with her family and her father has managed to secure a job with the Pakistani consulate.
One would assume that certain deals have been done diplomatically to make this happen and whilst I fully appreciate it will be difficult for her to ever return home to Pakistan, I feel that we have done our bit to help them and perhaps they should have looked for somewhere a bit closer to home.
Please don't forget that this girl has no doubt got a price on her head now for any extremist to try and claim and I have no doubt that there will be an extremely large security effort on our part to make sure she comes to no harm. Personally I think it's asking an awful lot of us and if anything slightly abusing our hospitality.
While I have every sympathy for the child, I also feel that we have quite enough of our own people in dire need, and I am tired of our country constantly it seems, volunteering itself as the 'Good Samaritan' to the rest of the world. As ever a soft touch and bolt hole for those who have alienated themselves from their own society in one way or another. Fine come here and drag all your problems and disputes with you. That's just what we all need.

the girl is in the country legally therefore its legal and therefore its in the law..I know what you mean Graham but thats the way it is, we both know this and im sure there are plenty of other people we could moan about being here but until we become politicians and change the way this country is run I guess moaning about it is the best we can do and little difference that makes, Doesn't even make us feel better!!What law is that ?

I thought the reason they were living here was because the father had been given a "diplomatic job" in Brum by the Pakistanis. However the BBC article says :-
"Her father has been appointed a UN educational advisor, and 12 July has been designated by the United Nations as Malala Day. "
I wonder if they'll be shipping out ?
