A lot of ifs and buts about this.
1 Why this country?
2 Who is paying for it?
3 Will she be allowed to stay here?
4 Will her family come here?
and so on.

i was wondering that, they have some of the best consultants in the world - many of them working here
poor kid thou , tough guy shooting a girl in the head
Yes I agree poor girl I do feel sorry for her but why here?. I just cant get my head round it. Resourses are being stretched in our hospitals and they bring more in. Yes Joe we have some of the best surgeons here because we give them the chance to come and work here.
On the news report I heard, it was said that the QE hospital has world best in specialists in that specific type of long term care
William Hague stated that the Pakistan government was fully funding all financial expenses.
So far no family is here.
Thats fair enough then thanks for that terpe.. But 2 questions remain unanswered.
Yes I've read the same about this hospital. Lets hope it all works out fine for her.
I guess it's a sign of the times in modern day Britain that they are taking her security very seriously as the taliban have threatened to target her again. The enemy within
Yes state of the art marco. The roof was leaking last month. And that is true.
I wouldn't care if our tax money paid for it. At least it would be doing some good rather than the £10's millions we spend on methadone each year just to topup users habits

Perhaps one day we will put as much effort into helping out our own citizens abroad who need urgent medical attention.
Oh, no world stage brownie points in that.
What next ?
Rescue all the wounded in Syria and any other medieval country where they are involved in their endless religious and political in-fighting nonsense ?
To hell with the people in THIS country who can't get a much-needed hospital bed.
I find the attitudes displayed in this thread, with the exception of posts 5 and 9 disgusting and I am ashamed to be involved with a forum that contains such people.
Why don't you take a good look at yourselves?
A pity, because some others go to great lengths to provide good and accurate and up to date information here - and their efforts are dragged in the dirt by the scumbags who have posted on this thread.
I have chipped into the running costs of this forum and have had value for money from the information gained - but I am not prepared ro subsidise the rantings of filthy racists.
Acordingly I am taking myself off.
A bit harsh those comments CBM. Certainly no racists here, and people are allowed freedom of speech. I understand what they are saying, as immigration in this country has screwed us for £Billions over the decades, and most folk have just about had enough of it. It's the fact it's 'another immigrant' costing us money, and not the fact she's a 14yo innocent teenager.

When oh when will people stop confusing race with politics and religion anyway ?
It's been a little while since we had the cheap, old racist jibe so I suppose it was due for an airing

She's out of hospital now and is allowed to stay in this country for five years as her father who joined her in the U.K managed to get a job.
How is this so?
Sorry, here's the link.

The thing is she was a victim waiting to happen as soon as she defied the taliban edict of no education for girls, they were burning and destroying schools at the time she was keeping her BBC blog, you cant protect a girl in a place like swat and her family already knew there were threats being made on her life, she probably wont go back to pakistan, her family neither as her dad isnt Mr Popular High profile cases like this do change things, this time hopefully for education for girls, had she been just another kid who wasnt keeping a BBC blog and been shot for it an act which captured world media attention,in that area she would have just been shot and forgotten about.
Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the passion that she shows to the outside world.
It's great to see she's left hospital now. With all the hatred for this country in far flung hell holes it's a celebration of what separates them from us. When a young girl needed life saving treatment we opened our doors and welcomed her and her family here. I salute all the doctors and nurses who played a part in her recovery.
It seems now that she is being allowed to stay here along with her family and her father has managed to secure a job with the Pakistani consulate.
One would assume that certain deals have been done diplomatically to make this happen and whilst I fully appreciate it will be difficult for her to ever return home to Pakistan, I feel that we have done our bit to help them and perhaps they should have looked for somewhere a bit closer to home.
Please don't forget that this girl has no doubt got a price on her head now for any extremist to try and claim and I have no doubt that there will be an extremely large security effort on our part to make sure she comes to no harm. Personally I think it's asking an awful lot of us and if anything slightly abusing our hospitality.
While I have every sympathy for the child, I also feel that we have quite enough of our own people in dire need, and I am tired of our country constantly it seems, volunteering itself as the 'Good Samaritan' to the rest of the world. As ever a soft touch and bolt hole for those who have alienated themselves from their own society in one way or another. Fine come here and drag all your problems and disputes with you. That's just what we all need.
Pakistani Girl in Uk for treatment.
Oh well, thats the law....we cant change it
''Don't be serious..Be Sincere''
the girl is in the country legally therefore its legal and therefore its in the law..I know what you mean Graham but thats the way it is, we both know this and im sure there are plenty of other people we could moan about being here but until we become politicians and change the way this country is run I guess moaning about it is the best we can do and little difference that makes, Doesn't even make us feel better!!

Young Malala is doing really well for herself £2 million book deal now.

I thought the reason they were living here was because the father had been given a "diplomatic job" in Brum by the Pakistanis. However the BBC article says :-
"Her father has been appointed a UN educational advisor, and 12 July has been designated by the United Nations as Malala Day. "
I wonder if they'll be shipping out ?
