    Royal Mail cost

    Hello,

I asked someone from UK to buy 2 t-shirts from an online shop. The shop doesn't ship to the Philippines, so I asked someone to buy them, have them shipped to his address in UK, then once he gets it, he would ship them to me here in the Philippines.

So, I asked him to send them through fedex. He said the cheapest he found was £40, so I send that amount to his paypal along with the payment for the 2 tshirts and shipping to his place.

He has shipped the items to me now, but I noticed he used Royal mail. I'm not really knowledgeable with shipping methods. But I believe, royal mail is not fedex right? If so, how much does the royal mail actually cost? By the way, he also sent me a picture of the package and on one part there, it states an amount of £11.91. Is that the amount that cost him?

Here is the picture of the package:

To make this post short, did he actually scam me? He used royal mail instead of fedex which we agreed upon that he would use in shipping the items.

By the way, he has shipped the items on October 5th, on the tracking number, it says it has arrived here in Manila, Philippines. But I haven't received a notice from my post office yet. I'm really frustrated, because that's the reason I want to use fedex, so that I can receive the item much faster. I think the post office is causing the delay..

I recently purchased a uklelele on ebay from the USA. This item cost me $440 including postage. It was sent via fedex. I have recently received a bill from fedex for £125.67 this is customs and exercise duty. Reiward i think you got off lightly!!.

I'd start a complaint/dispute with PayPal - he ripped you off stating it would cost £40.00 via Fedex when in fact he sent them Royal Mail for £11.91 thereby making himself another £28.09

Yes, I would do that soon. I first messaged him again about this concern.

Well, the shirts cost £30 then another £40 if only he sent it through fedex, so maybe it won't be too costly. I'd still prefer it that way though, instead of waiting for the post office to send me a notice.

But since he have used royal mail already, I have no choice now. Does anyone know if I can visit my post office even if I haven't received a notice yet? I really need to have the item before the 20th. I know the item is in the Philippines already, but the system here is delaying it.

Hello reiward, welcome to the forum.

    Royal Mail is not Fedex.

You requested your friend to buy the T-shirts and to ship via Fedex and you paid £30 for the T-shirts and £40 for the shipping via Fedex.

Your friend however sent the purchased T-Shirts via Royal Mail at a cost of £11.91

You need to talk with your friend about that.

Fedex is just one of a number of courier services. The point of using a courier service is that although they are significantly more expensive than 'regular' mail, they are also suggested to be much quicker and a much more secure service.

I doubt there are many folks here who would use Royal Mail to send anything to the Philippines that they really wanted to arrive safely and without delay.

You also need to talk to your friend about helping your to track the packet and to get the delivery expedited by having him/her contact Royal Mail.
