Filipino Food at Tesco: The Real Cost

Pinoy food at some Tesco stores

"The success of the partnership between Manning Impex and Tesco in promoting Philippine food products in the UK is a very clear reflection of dynamic, active and expanding Philippine-British trade and investment relations, " stated the Honourable Enrique Manalo, Philippine Ambassador to the UK. He was referring to the recent introduction of Filipino food products in Tesco stores in the UK.

The first Tesco stores carrying Philippine products are Sandhurst Extra (Berkshire), Wembley Extra (London), Harrow Station Road (London), Cheetham Hill (Manchester), Chestnut Extra (Hertfordshire), Horwich Extra (Lancashire), Stockton Extra (Stockton-on-Tees), Springhill (Birmingham), Yardley Extra (Birmingham), and Dungannon Superstore (Northern Ireland).

I don't quite understand "Mother Lily's" logic other than the fact that she possibly see's Tesco as a threat to her business (bizarre though as Tesco only have a limited product range in 10 of their 1500 plus UK stores). Maybe Mother Lily's has been charging excessive prices for Sky Flakes she's obviously got her own interests at heart as more Phil manufactured food sold in the UK helps the companies and job security back home.

I doubt if the Phil Gov or Embassy introduced Manning Impex to Tesco they represent a number of Asian food manufacturers in the UK and Tesco could have easily read their name and Camberley, Surrey address on untold food packaging.
