    teeth

it is down to how we was brought up, you brush your teeth this way or that way, or is it we brittish seem to have the worst teeth ever, i brush my teeth go to the dentist but to tell the truth i dont like my teeth at all, i smile and laugh more now then i have ever done but i wished my teeth was straighter, and white, my dentist says, yes you have had lots of problems in you younger days but as they are now there is nothing we can do other then just look after them, so do i blame my mum, the school dentist, ie the butcher, or is it we are just born like it,i dont want the american white teeth smile, but also i dont like to visit the dentist too when my appointment is due which is this month

    OMG the dentist.

I was stupid when I was young and didn't go as I was frightened of the dentist. I am paying for that stupidity now.

I think I'm a little over obsessive, flossing, brushing, mouth wash several times a day and visit the dentist regularly. Have also had some cosmetic work done.

I still can't believe the UK uses amalgam fillings....

I love going to the dentist. I dont know why. Am I the only one here who likes going to them?

I love it when they dig my mouth and cleaned it specially the feeling your mouth being so clean and fresh after is just so great. I hate fillings!! It doing my head in!!

The only thing about dentist and teeth etc as we all know is they can be very costy. We have paid 35k for braces just for my lower teeth only but I can say that its doing great so Im happy with the outcome really.

There are dodgy ones so be careful but the majority of it are GOOD. They are more cheaper than your dentists here in britain.

There are some great dentists in the Philippines. The majority of Filipino's have false teeth as they tend to have them pulled out rather than filled. Some people will say its because of cost but have noticed even people with money will have them pulled.
My kids have braces and it wasn't cheap. Didn't want them having my British teeth when they get older!

Since the change a few years ago regarding less NHS dentist, I registered with Charles Clifford University Dental Hospital in Sheffield. Wow! best thing I ever did, had treatment every month for almost three years that consisted of deep scaling and polishing a couple of fillings, the work was amazing. I have re-registered again since returning to UK and had my assesment a couple of weeks ago, two and a half hours work, Start treatment friday the 9th Nov. Also registered wifey, she has her asessment 27th Nov. I recommend that if you have a University dental hospital near you, get registered. It helps the students and its all FREE!

Just been to the dentist...another crown needed at £209 ...the second this year. Wouldnt mind but they only give you the shiny silver ones.

My plan is to have them all changed when i next visit the philippines where its much much cheaper.

I like going to the dentist! My dad insisted us (me and my siblings) to go to dentist regularly when we were younger..always brush our teeth 2 to 3 times a day..and we have fillings whenever it needs to..and not amalgam fillings which are horrible! I always have been told by all dentists I've been to that I have good teeth.. I haven't tried going to a dentist here yet in the UK so don't know what they'll say..I can't register to a dentist yet as all my docs are still in the UKBA!

Not sure about that, £200'ish to have bridges, cleaning, filling all in one payment. I worked it out last time I went the Phil, it's much cheaper in the UK if you're using the NHS.

I'm lucky, dentists refuse to work in my mouth .... as they can't get in (<<<This smilie has more teeth than me ). I need to have my jaw fixed so it can open enough to get drills and hammers in, but my specialists have no idea what's wrong with my titanium jaw .... great help

as much as im aware amalgam fillings are not used anymore due to the mercury, if you have a tooth pulled that has amalgam filling in it , they are not allowed to let you take that tooth away with you, it has to be put in toxic waste for disposal

I've got a few of those amalgam fillings. Maybe that's why I'm nuts.

Been a lot more self conscious about my teeth recently so went to a cosmetic dentist. Apparently dentist in Phils I went to last year had done a complete hatchet job on my fillings so having to get that repaired along with some clean up work. Decided to ask about the invisalign treatment to straighten my teeth up. Bill came out at 5k for the next year I was mortified. It's no wonder people go abroad for dental treatment. I think this time I'm just going to suck it up and continue as after the bad job I got done in the Phils I'm a little scared about getting anything done there or anywhere else abroad again.

There are some VERY good dentists in the Phils, and generally much lower cost than here, but you need to do some research to find them (US-trained usually).

Angeles City is a good place to look because of the large ex-pat population...just ask around, but don't get sidetracked by the 'entertainment' district there.

Sadly ... I lost almost half of mine away back in 1971 ... simply because the dentist I'd been attending at the time kept insisting I had, what he called, an "awkward bite" - whatever that is!

Nowadays, it seems ... dentists will fight "tooth & nail" to preserve their patients' teeth and, according to my present practitioner, those I have left (mainly BIG BACK ones) are still in reasonable condition more than four decades later.

    Goodnight, folks.
