    Thumbs up Obama Re-elected!

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-20236365

Great news from the USA. I'm so glad that Obama won. Romney would have been the worst thing to happen to the USA since George W Bush!

But I really don't understand American politics sometimes. There was a Republican on the radio today saying that they should have put forward a MORE conservative candidate! Unbelievable!

Hard to even begin to understand, maybe you have to be American, but something I was once told, and which is a very good start, is that American politics is nothing at all like UK, or even European politics.
The Republican and Democrat parties are best likened to the right and left wing of the UK Conservative party. There is nothing like the Labour party in the US, despite sometimes Labour thinking the Democrats are somehow on their side.

The calling of Obama a "socialist" in America, is meant as an insult. Maybe it's like someone here calling Milliband a "Communist"

The American people will be in for an almighty shock once they realise how Obarmy has allowed the economy to go to the brink - reminds me of Labours reckless spending and their imbecile Liam Byrne leaving a note in his desk stating"There's no money left"

Obama obviously looked at Labours jiggery-pokery rigging the electorate (but he managed to do it without an open door immigration policy)

Mitt Romney was right about one thing. He was secretly taped back in May telling fund-raisers that half the country would support Barack Obama because they depend on the government for all or part of their income.

Romney correctly identified America’s burgeoning entitlement culture as a major obstacle to a Republican winning back the White House.

‘There are 47 per cent of the people who will vote for the President no matter what . . . who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe they are entitled to healthcare, to food, to housing, to you name it.’

Striking an almost defeatist note, he concluded: ‘I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their own lives.’

Romney’s leaked remarks caused a predictable storm of confected outrage, but his analysis was bang on the money. Just as Gordon Brown cynically constructed a client state in Britain to maximise Labour’s electoral advantage, so the Democrats deliberately drain the public purse to feed their supporters’ insatiable appetite for handouts.

When 47 per cent of the electorate depends to a greater or lesser degree on government largesse, the Democrats have only to target another four or five  per cent of voters to secure a majority.

I cant see how this result will make any difference to us. I do agree with him bringing the troops home though. I think romney would have caused ww3.

The Republicans just need to realise that gone is the day when all you need to win the Presidency is the White, middle class, religious fruit cake vote.
I thought over 2 billion spent on advertising during the campaign by both Parties is a disgrace.

One thing the Republicans forgot is that the white middle class has been aging and dying since Bush first got in, and they allow religion too much influence, which is another reason for the drop in votes, as those who now register as 'believers' has dropped 4% in the last few years.

I did post a few weeks ago that ObiOneama would win by a landslide, and so it proved. As I said then, you can see clearly how the media manipulates data just to get a story.

Interestingly ... there're many who believe the media played a significant role in the outcome of the Phils' 2010 presidential elections.
