Hello Eric, my name is Kristel pleased to meet you!I read about your concern regarding the visa application requirements, we have the same situation here i just submitted my application for spousal visa, my husband is earning less than the required income to sponsor somebody. We were worried at first because we did not meet the required salary what we did is we contact UKBA and ask all the questions we need to know, they said that the affected of this new rule are those people whose holding visa that issued after 9th of July 2012, if your visa is not in that date or earlier than that date then you are not affected. i have a friend whose in England they were married but they only applied for tourist visa for the wife it will expire in Dec 2012. so if they applied for the spousal visa they are covered with this new rule. we asked UKBA again regarding their situation, they said that as long as you have a £2000 savings in your bank account plus the £16k+ salary then you're qualified (its not really always £2000 savings, depends on the annual salary just to make it £18k+ as the required one), if you want contact the UKBA for further inquiry Good luck guys xx
