In an Emotional World, Singapore Is Comfortably Numb

Thanks to Singapore’s strength in finance, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and other industries, its economy almost doubled in 10 years. That makes the country of 5.3 million people one of the world’s wealthiest, with per-capita gross domestic product of $33,530.

Well, if you compare them to former or current US colonies and the state their locals are in.

One reason I went back to the Philippines after staying just for 6 months in Singapore..well each to their own I mean, but I cannot work in an environment where it makes me take my work at home all the time as I've been told to work my off 200% all the time..I wasn't happy the whole time I stayed there..I lost a lot of weight, been sick most of the time but still go to work anyway. I work hard but I can't lose my life just because of work.

Last time I was there I was 7 years old...so not much work to worry about, other than learning to read and write.

Dedworth, I agree. We should outsource our Judiciary and prison system to them.

My sis-in law is pit manager at one of the biggest resort casino`s and is managing to put her daughters through a good montessori school on her wages, plus she returns home monthly. Its a sacrifice for her to work there, but at least it`s safe and she appreciates the opportunity, but although she has been there 2 to 3 years her contract can be terminated anytime, so it seems working conditions are stressful.
