there are different accents in england depending on the area,
same in scotland different scottish accents in different areas,
some difficult to understand even for an englishman, but stay among them for a while and your ears adjust

When I sailed on a Standby Vessel out of Aberdeen I actually struggled to understand my crew, had no idea what some of the Scots were saying. Some of the accents are just incredible.
Well, we did try to keep those Scottish barbarians out by building a wall across the country, but somehow they got in and started running things.

personally i have no trouble in understanding the scottish accents, but some of those foreign english ones i just give up on !!!
