Visa decision made. So excited and fingers cross

    I received an email today.

A decision on your Visa application reference number: **************** has been made by the British Embassy.
Your application has been received at the UK Visa Application Centre and is ready for collection.
Please note this is an auto generated e-mail. Please do NOT reply to this email.

Is it ready to collect today or it needs to be collected after a day.
Hope I got it granted. I'm so nervous. Wish me luck

It simply means you will know the result now. A decision has been made. You wont know if the visa has been granted until :

a] You look in your passport or

b] You receive an additional email to say that your visa has been issued.

We got a message the same as you and my wifes vias was granted.

I think Joe was just pointing out that so far you haven't had a confirmation email to say that the visa has been issued so therefore put the champagne on ice until you get the passport in your hand and the visa is in it.

Personally I think it is bad what they do. They should tell you one way or another whether your visa has been granted or not.

I agree emphatically. I think that for the money that is paid they ought to be more professional about the issuing of the end result.

This may be incorrect, but others has said that the applicant needs to elect/select to have messages from the Embassy.

Only the Embassy know the decision.
VFS have no idea about the visa decision at any time.

I will get the visa tomorrow. I can't really wait to know the result of my application. My partner said that embassy will refused during your first application coz that is the way they make money.

So there is no communication between the embassy and VFS? .

they have reasons why they REFUSED an aplication thats why they have refusal letter to explain why you didnt satisfy an ECO. they also have appeals if you think they mishandle your application.

its not about the money they are after i think, personally I dont agree on what your partner said.

I think its 50/50. One of the main reasons for the shambles is there is no verbal communication between the embassy and the applicant. Anyone can make a minor mistake on their application form and for that reason they will refuse it. In turn it costs the applicant a lot of money to appeal.

Probably, the reason why the elusive "to be despatched" phrase isn't there is because, you have opted to collect your original documents. I suppose this is a message from VFS and not from the Embassy itself. As what has been pointed out by most members and moderators, you won't know the decision unless you have your passport at hand. So, fingers crossed fro Bristol mike_steve. Keep us posted!
UKBA,UKBA I am dreading to hear from you...

I think what Terpe is trying to point out is: VFS isn't capable of knowing the decisions made by the Embassy.

What I mean is that at no time during the visa process does the Embassy inform VFS of the decision result. It's simply not allowed.
That is the reason why VFS will never give an indication that the visa is despatched or ready for collection.

Only messages from the Embassy will ever state that the visa will be despatched.

Furthermore, many folks have stated that the applicant needs to state that they wish communication from the Embassy (it's not automatic)
I don't know whether this is fact or not, just saying that's all.

I dont know I have never been through this procedure it just seems crazy to me. All I know is what others are experiencing. When you get that automated email it seems like a guessing game. More stress.

We elected to have messages sent to us but didn't receive one stating that the visa had been awarded. Never did get one.

I think that they are just poorly organised. And at the prices they charge, there are no excuses. I didn't think that to start off with but over the course of time it has become obvious.

Now, if it was £100 for a spouse visa then I would understand a bit more.

I've heard that from other applicants who are refused during their first application then when they apply second time they got their visa.
