One solitary book about the Philippines in the library

And that only arrived a couple of months ago but still nobody has taken it out yet.

    Plenty on Thailand though.

    Exactly.

I used the Lonely Planet Guide as my bible during my early visits to the Phils, and also bought the other Asian LP guides when wandering further afield.
Excellent books, if a little heavy. No internet then of course.

The other well known series is the 'Rough Guide' books, not as detailed as the LP ones though IMO.

As I've mentioned before, 'Imelda' (Biography) is a really good read for those interested in the Marcos era and the excesses of that family.

Yup. I did make a mental note of that Graham. Not sure if this particular library will stock it though.

Well, naturally we're blessed with a good library in York, with the place being full of studious types.
I mainly used to go there to read all the free car mags in the reference section though.

Just the same situation here in sunny Wakefield and our one and only copy was 8 years old although, they did buy an up to date copy after I asked.
