    putting silver foil behind the radiators

    well today i thought i would just do this all the radiators have been done, but i have none lrft for the turkey on xmas day, its only a rough job to see if it helps and if it does i will make a better job of it, next year i will have to insulate the walls internal walls i mean, but thats another story

    i think the best place for foil is rad on outside wall, also fitting a shelf will make the heat go into the center of room, but it my attract some ornaments

    I always used to do that too.
    B&Q used to sell some highly reflective foil backed onto something like polystyrene and included a small pot of glue for fixing to the wall.

    I wouldn't like to guess just how cost effective it would be on an annual basis.
    The equations used to calculate the difference between the reflected heat benefit against the loss of conductive heat from the brick wall depend too much on 'guestimated' constants and values to make any sense.

    It used to be the case that the council made grants available for such work.
    In which case it might tip it in favour of the reflective foil
