    Dental treatment

My friend is working in the uk but will not have ILR until later this year. What access to NHS dental care is available to her - if any? I am struggling with the NHS website to find what I need. Will she be treated as a private patient or will the "subsidised" NHS charges apply. Does anybody have any experience of dealing with a uk dentist while on a work visa and can anyone one tell me what the likely cost of a tooth extraction would be in these circumstances.
    Thank you.

A simple tooth extraction under NHS dentistry will cost no more than £48, she should register with a dentist who works under the NHS sometimes easily said than done depending if she can find one who is taking new patients on, if she can do this then there are 3 bands in prices depending on the complexity of treatment involved, also NHS dentists do offer private work but I believe at higher costs, hope somehow this helps.....

You can normally register online as someone who wishes to be put on the NHS dentist waiting list for your area.

I did, and was suprised to receive a letter not long after saying that there was one near me taking on patients.

Going back on Tuesday for a full stripdown, regrind and ground-up refit and restoration with fresh metal and filler.

I would suggest to register as a private patient then she knows it is properly done and will not have to wait for that long to have her tooth extracted.

If the case is not that urgent then booking for NHS in your local area will do, it may take ages to get through but cheaper like private dental service. If you want to go for a quicker one then go for private, much better results I think.
