Britain risks breaking European and domestic law if it pursues plans to make it difficult for new immigrants to get benefits, Bulgaria's foreign minister has told ITV News.

    The cheeky turd

Who does he think he is. This isn't just about freedom of movement, this is about access to our benefits system - that thing we pay for by working our 's off

... and would reiterate what I mentioned in response to the Romanian Foreign Minister's assertions on ITV News (#5 of the appropriate thread refers).

was about the ensuing shortage of land space following a predicted influx of Eastern Europeans, BUT the same principle applies to our Benefits System which is already struggling to cope with 's unemployed!

And since Benefits are denied to our legally-married non-European partners until they have been naturalised ... what [MORAL] right entitles non-English-speaking foreigners from the likes of Romania & Bulgaria to stake their claim to "OUR hand-outs" aside from them becoming members of the EU?

I think that's why some of us get particularly wound up about it Arthur.

i wonder if they have housing benefit, child benefit etc in Bulgaria/Romania and if i went to live there would I be able to claim them

why doesn't EU enforce a minimum wage and benefits so people wouldn't need to move around Europe

Im surprised that so far only 3,793 people have signed the petition.

Perhaps the majority of Brits are all for it?
    The more the merrier?

Got a feeling that you are in the majority Steve!! Looks like this petition needs a little more advertising as it just doesnt seem to be gaining very much ground.
When something seems so wrong though, Im a bit surprised why most Brits dont find this stuff out and vote accordingly ... They seem to though when it comes to certain issues such as horse meat etc etc!... I hope you get my point!
    Cheers,
    Fred.
