Married in UK applying for passport

H iEveryone,
First post and a question ? i am guessing this happens a lot, my wife is currently in the philippines and her passort is running out soon, we have a dispatch number for our registered marriage (embassy tells me this will be sent either monday or tuesday), i would like to apply for our spouse visa asap, would my wife be allowed to renew her passport in her maiden name in the philippines and apply for the visa in her married name ???

Hi Terry. Welcome to the forum.

1. Im not sure if your wife is still allowed to renew her passport in the Philippines using her maiden name considering that she's already married.

2. The name to be used and will be considered on the FLR(M) application is the name written on the passport of your wife.

If you wish to use the married name on her Spouse Visa then I suggest your wife to renew her passport using her married name. This is the right thing to do I believe.

When your wife renews her passport, they will automatically put it in her married name as vernier has said.

When my wife renewed her passport, we had filled the forms in using her maiden name as we had flights booked in her maiden name. As we were married, we were immediately told the passport had to be in her married name, so the lady from the embassy changed the form for us then and there.
