Story so Far ........... what to do next??

hi everyone

My story so far is I met my gf Jen when i was on a visit to hong kong a few years back, she is a filipina and was working there. We stayed in touch daily by email and phone and skype etc, and in 2011 met up in the phils and stayed with her family in ilocos sur for a few weeks. Anyway, Jen got pregnant which is something we were both very happy about and in december 2011 she left her employment in hong kong and went back to her family in ilocos sur until she had our baby PJ in June last year.
I have just come back from a trip to see them and now we must decide our next steps. We want Jen and PJ to come to the UK but we are quite relaxed about timeframes for making that happen. PJ is entltled to a UK passport and we will be applying for that soon.
I guess my question is which is the better option - to go back and marry in the phils in the next year or so and then apply for Jen (with PJ to come here), or is it better to apply for the fiance visa? What pluses and minuses are there to each of them situations?

A little bit out of date in some part but largely still valid Fiance(e) Visa or Spouse Visa? Which is best?

Solely in terms of visa application requirements both spouse and fiance(e) are pretty much the same.
