    Rapist wins damages from government

These stories no longer shock as they are becoming more common. I know it wasn't a lot of compensation but perhaps they should have given it to his victim

, Marco. Notice, too, the surname of the rapist: Betteridge and, small though his compensation may be, he undoubtedly got the better edge of the deal ... leaving what is bound to be a bitter edge as far as the unfortunate victim is concerned.

Its a joke.. I told you marco you should have gone for compensation the way you and your wife were treated by the ukba. I think somebody should make a stand against them. For example waiting times on decisions. Imagine if you owed them money. Would they wait months on end for you to make a decision on whether to pay them or not? I doubt it.

Sore point at the moment Andy. My solicitor gave me the impression that she would vigorously pursue a claim on our behalf and despite sending her some emails and actually visiting her offices in December I have still received no compensation. I haven't even received the appeal fee back.
I left her in no doubt that I wasn't prepared to leave the matter and wanted some money as I felt there was a principle here.
I think she felt that as we had got the visa everything was settled. The reason I never asked her for any of the £1100 I gave her back is I believed she would chase it up. £500 of her fees were for a court appearance that never happened so I felt that I had been very reasonable .
