    FLR (M) Got it last!

or rather Got It At Last.....

    Hi all,
Wanted to post this on a (the) thread about FLR(M) applications and the timelines involved but can't find the one I wanted.
Basically just letting you guys know the application time I've experienced...

Married in the UK April 20th 2012 -
    Applied for FLR(M) 6th June 2012
Cheque cashed by UKBA 21st June 2012
    Application acknowledged 25th June 2012
Received biometrics letter 8th August 2012
    Did biometrics 10th August 2012

Asked for my own passport back - January 28th 2013
Got it, the rest of my stuff and the thumbs up today!

Just wondering if asking for my passport back prompted them to clear my file?????

A ginormous thank you to this site for its resources. I've used it for research rather than engage directly but a few of the angels on here, particularly joe bloggs have given some spot on advice.
Hopefully, (when I'm not too busy at work ) I can get on here more and help.
    But phew what a marathon!

    Congratulations Anakin.

Just curious, since you applied in June - is the validity date on your BRP from June also?

and thank you for the congrats btw!
Traditionally when I've applied for visas they've usually dated it from when they've approved it.

raynaputi and missana - don't be despondent. I know it's easy for me to say that but it's taken 8 months and after the bad publicity hopefully they're speeding things up. It's been a crappy time waiting but you have to stay positive. I'm sure you'll be posting your good news soon.

Thanks Arthur - yes you're right of course. There's no rhyme nor reason and I really feel for anyone who's waiting. I'm also glad to have Mrs Anakin off my back, because sometimes she'd even blame me personally!

... there's absolutely NO rhyme nor reason, because the "spadework" has already been carried out when partners apply to come here in the first place. 'Leave to Remain', in itself, OUGHT to be nothing more than a mere formality and, like you, I also empathise with the strain and frustration the ludicrous processing times are bound to inflict on the very BEST of relationships.

    Shame on the UKBA!

Contact UKBA and explain that the passport is needed for mortgage transaction.
Be sure they understand it's only a request for your husband's passport not a withdrawal of your application.

It really should not be any problem for them at all.
But who knows anything with UKBA

Good luck and let us know how it goes. It may help others

don't ask for your passport back or they might cancel your visa app

if anyone knows the answer, please post reply. Thank you.

    Alan,
The Form FLR(M) is the form used for Further Leave to Remain by a "partner of a person present and settled in the UK"

The UKBA definition of Partner is:-

    - the applicant's spouse
    - the applicant's civil partner;
    - the applicant's fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner
    or
    - a person who has been living together with the applicant in a relationship akin to a marriage or civil partnership for at least two years prior to the date of application

Hope that helps and removes any concerns
