GOAL-LINE technology will be used at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, FIFA revealed today.

The world governing body is tendering for systems to be used in June’s Confederations Cup as well as the World Cup next year.

The IFAB, the panel which decides on the rules of the game worldwide, voted last July to allow the technology in competitive football. FIFA President Sepp Blatter personally stated his case for goal-line technology after England midfielder Frank Lampard was denied what looked to be a clear goal in a knockout game in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
