Hi Guys
My wife's friend who has been here for a few years recently received her ILR. Her visa was issued for 10 years however her 3 year old daughter who was born here had a visa issued for 4 years. Anybody explain why the difference? Please.

at a guess, passports for kids are only valid for 5yrs (they change so much ) adult ones are valid for 10yrsprobably the dates their passports expire.
ILR doesn't expire. unless your out of the country 2yrs or more in 1 trip.
seeing the child was born here, and at least one parent has ILR she could register the child as British or she could register the child when the mother applies for citizenship.
they can get their ILR vignette transferred to their new passport when their old one expires - cost i think £150-200 ? , or do what most people do carry the old one with the ILR vignette in with their new passport![]()
