Emeli Sande doesn't usually come across as the kind of artist to get involved in a spat, but the star has stood up for herself after being criticised by Noel Gallagher.

The opinionated rocker had described the 'Next To Me' singer's work as "music for f**king grannies".

Sande was the toast of this year's Brit Awards, winning two prizes including Best British Female and the coveted Best British Album.

"You look at the ‘best’ now. Paloma Faith? Do me a favour. Who’s f**king decided she’s a star?” he told The Sun.

"Emeli Sande? That is f**king music for grannies. I don’t get it."

Responding on Twitter, Sande posted a funny picture of an elderly lady holding up her middle finger, with the caption "Thanks Noel."
