About time this went to the courts.

I see this is has already been brought in to the private sector and the government have lost a court case in that area and are taking it to the High Court as a last resort. If they lost that then they'll have to cancel it and pay everyone back

According to numerous housing associations across the UK the waiting list for a single bedroomed home in social housing is now 6 years, so anyone who applies to b moved will be forced to pay the tax for at least 6 years.

The other thing is the government are doing this to save money but it will cost them more. How? Well say a social house costs £100 a week, in the private sector it would be £150/wk. At 25% social housing would cost the government £75, whereas in the private sector where many of the social tenants would need to move to it will cost the government £112.50 so housing the same folk This is a simple example, obviously a 2 bedroom to a 1 would not cost £150, but they will either be similar or more NOT less.

Even a council has called for it to be called off as they have no housing to move people into.

This was always going to be a train wreck.

There's a shortage of housing because of all the parasites from other countries getting first call on it instead of British people who have lived in the area and paid taxes, local and government for as long as 50+ years !

I also thought this was also going to be a big fail.
So many of the people representing us are morons with no experience of life.
This was a complete idiotic idea and completely missed the point. It only penalised those honest folk with much to lose. Many of whom were old and disabled or young families with children under 10.

What about the ones who have already been moved and I know someone that has. Should they get compensation? After all in this instance they had already paid for the house with rent 3 times over and where forced to leave their house.

The government is still showing no signs of stop it proceeding next month, despite these court cases. I would have thought they'd have to wait to implement it if they had to have a judicial review.

A guy in our friends village has lived in his house since he was born, brother moved out, parents passed away, so he has 2 spare bedrooms. The only place he could move if any places were actually available is about 12 miles away so he'd have to give up his minimum wage job and claim more benefits!

Did you notice what the government said about those court cases? They said they need to take in a lodger!!! So that means the lodger would have to sleep on the floor then!

my friend lives in a 2 bedroom flat with his g/f , her son recently moved out, and now the housing association wanted nearly £13 a week more, but like you've said there are hardly any 1 bed flats for them to go to

in sunny Salford the part near me, they have 11 houses up for rent this week, over 50,000 people live in this area.
