Looks like he has painted a good picture.
He's lucky enough to have a choice.
Totally agree with him he couldnt of put it any better
AN HAPPY WIFE IS A HAPPY LIFE
What a prick! .."maybe we should all stop voting".....then let fascists get in to run the country
So are some of us.
He's a plonker. All Western nations face the same challenge (with the exception of places such as Monaco), in that they are in debt and need to increase their tax take to pay for healthcare and other services. The recession is not helping either since the government's (any government's) tax take is down at the moment. Money doesn't grow on trees.
It's not the first time good old Ray has spoken about leaving the country. I would assume that Ray is a higher rate tax payer and unlike the rest of us come April Ray will be getting a large reduction in his Tax bill, which many people believe could be put to far better use.
There are a lot of things wrong with our country at the moment but I don't think Ray Winstone's Tax Bill is one of them.
Why should you freeze your ?????????? off when you can afford to live elsewhere.? And even with these people with oversea banks they are still taxed when it enters the UK. I dont blame him. Like Terpe said he is lucky to have a choice,
Anyroads, I digress; harking back to the MAIN topic under discussion ... as a mate of mine is fond of reminding me:
"If you pay [ANY] tax ... you're NOT on the breadline!"
Taxes are a really tricky subject. Tax the top earners enough to run the country, but not too much so they leave.
The amount the 50% tax band raises is not worth the effort to track and gather it. i.e. it is a waste of time. Accountants manage their income down to £150k. At 40% a person earning 150k a year is paying around £60,000 a year in taxes and NI. How much more should they pay?

That argument is normally put forward by people on £150k+ per year. I fully understand the necessity of having a sensible tax policy but in a time of austerity when everyone is expected to tighten their belts this government hands the top earners a 5% reduction in tax. I don't consider that fair.
This government has dragged middle income earners like myself into the 40% tax bracket now by lowering the Thresholds and yet somebody on £500k is now being handed a big lump back in April.
Just my opinion.
He makes some valid points but for someone in his financial position, he shouldn't be moaning about the high taxes he has to pay.
