Its not a question if they are safe or not it is the way you behave there. For example no flashing you gold and money all over the place. Just be sensible.

Have been reading UK travel advice for southern phillpines. It seems some places are not wise to go but I take your advice on board. Does anyone have luck with internet dating?

Certain parts of Mindanao like Zamboanga and Cotabato City are not really advisable to visit currently but you should be fine in Davao.

I met Maria through the internet and others on here have met their partners the same way, although there are quite a few scammers knocking about so you have to be vigilant.
