Hi there MLH, good to learn all is well for you and good to hear about your planned holiday. That's great, enjoy your holiday at home and don't worry about anything.

I'm really not sure what you're asking here. But if you have concerns about being out of UK for a couple of weeks then please stop worrying. You have no problems with that.

As you are under 'old rules', the qualifying period for ILR is 24 months LIVING in UK. UKBA allow you to apply for ILR 28 days before that 24 month period is completed
So you need to count forward 23 months from the date of your UK arrival, and that's the earliest time you can apply.
Please DO NOT wait until your visa is about to expire.
When did you actually arrive into UK

I always suggest taking the Life in UK Test as soon as you can after arriving into the UK
It's so much better to have plenty of time to study and to secure the pass certificate than to put pressure on yourself by leaving it too long.
Getting a pass in this test is extremely important to you. You cannot apply ILR without it.
    Please do it asap

Sorry but can I ask you to re-word this question as I'm not understanding what you mean to say

It can take quite some waiting for visa processing. Throughout that time your immigration status will remain valid and just as it is now.
Even if your visa will expire during the processing you still have the immigration status that you had at the time of ILR application.
As I mentioned, you can apply ILR 28 days in advance of your 24 month living in UK anniversary. Please be prepared that you may not receive your ILR decision within that 28 days.

You make your application for Biometric at the same time as ILR. It's on the same application form.
You will be invited for Biometric enrolment by UKBA letter.

    Hope this helps you.

Hello, there ... nice to see you posting here again!

Let's deal first, with your eligibility to apply for ILR.

As I recall, you came to the UK in early July last year. So - for simplicity's sake - say, for example, you arrived here on July 1 ... that means the earliest you'd be entitled to apply would be *June 3 2014, i.e., 28 days short of the date on which you had been here for 2 years. But, of course, in order to qualify, you'd NEED to've passed the 'Life in the UK Test', which can be taken ANYTIME between now and the expiry of your current visa ... although, I always recommend the sooner this is done, the better - for obvious reasons.

Note, however, Biometrics will be dealt with when you apply for ILR.

As regards your holiday in the Philippines:

....................... will NOT, in any way, affect your ILR. ... since the number of days spent abroad are only taken into account when one is applying for British Citizenship. Besides ... ... you're only going home for a couple of weeks.

So for now, sit back on your "rocking chair", relax and look forward to your forthcoming break.

Hello guys, i knew i can always rely on this site!

Terpe, so sorry i really have not made it clear with regards to those few questions. I actually do not know which word will best describe my worries lol. If i understood it right, visa is for 27 months, and out of that 27 months i should spend 24 months within UK and the rest of 3 months out of UK. Do i really need to COMPLETE that 3 months out of UK? and what will happen if i cant as we all know that flights are so way expensive and with work i dont think i can make it out of uk for 3 months. I have arrived in UK July 9, my visa started June 26 so thats few days spent already and add this coming holiday and next year am not even sure if i can go out of UK due to work and financial circumstances as it will be the time to apply for ILR as well.

Thank you Arthur Little, i will only be coming home for few weeks and will take the time to study and read that book lol and when i get back i will take the life in the UK test as soon as i can before i even go work ( stress stress stress)

Looking forward to your reply guys and thank you so much for always being helpful.

    MLH, that's completely wrong.
You do NOT have to spend time out of UK. Complete nonsense, who told you that?

    Stop worrying right now.
Even the 24 months living in UK qualifying period does not require you to stay totally here in UK

    Enjoy your holiday
