Vernon Wayne Gardiner who has been in the Virac Jail for 16 months, was arrested after failing to find a job in New Zealand for a Filipino man [Joseph Diwata] who paid him just under $5000 as a placement fee.

The 66-year-old former Anglican priest was told by his lawyer the illegal recruitment charges could see him face up to a 20-year jail sentence.

    Watched the video.
    Quite interesting.
The NZ Embassy is taking the same line as the UK Embassy does. (and many others too....beware)

Let's hope the TV presenters can raise the money before he gets to trial.

Ah yes, sorry Graham I didn't view your latest link.
I've seen that now and yes, the TV raised a staggering $30k
Look like he'll be out and back in NZ pretty soon.

He's going to be facing issues when he gets back too as it seems he has a history of 'cheating' folks out of money. Lots of money.
    He's been lucky

i think it mentions in the video that he's no angel

maybe those who made a contribution should ask for their money back and leave him there a bit longer

It's been suggested that any balance be used to compensate those numerous folk he cheated whilst pretending to be an immigration advisor in NZ.
Charging $000's and then skipping with the money.
