In these cases either the government does not know what is going on or they are turning a blind eye. I dont know which one it is. The same goes for sharia mortgages. No interest to pay for muslims? How do they get away with that?
Thanks for that Les I'll try and catch it if not Mon on iPlayer. All this Sharia stuff should be banned and criminalised
Thanks for the warning .
I can't bear to watch this stuff.
It makes me too ANGRY !
we already got 2 laws in this country uk gov, and brussels , do we realy need a 3rd
Cheers for the heads up Les, will be worth a watch.
This ones actually on tonight now. I think it got delayed because of Maggies death.
Thanks for the reminder Marco, I'll watch it baseball bat and sick bag at the ready
Can't say I was surprised by any of it or the fact that the last government and this one have done nothing to stop These Sharia Councils existing
Just going to see if its on iPlayer
Watched it - legislation should be passed so that anyone participating (imans, plaintiffs etc) in this spurious "legal system" is jailed
I don't know how politicians can turn a blind eye that something that is so oppressive to women.
You have to fear for the future when you see things like these councils operating totally separate from our own laws and nobody in Parliament prepared to do anything about it
Its been going on for years Mark. I think they are too scared to do anything about it.
Shoddy journalism from The BBC. It failed to point out that we've been doing extrajudicial dispute resolution in Britain for a very long time both in the religious and the secular world. Why no mention of The Beth Din, for example, that has worked in the same way as this since the 18th century?
Also why was there no mention that a Sharia Court's authority extended only to those who chose to submit to them (same with Beth Din).
In no way are these services putting themselves above the law, nor can they give judgement that would be illegal in civil law
