• He used tracking software to find out what had happened to his laptop
• HiddenApp sends photos of whoever is using the machine and its location
• But police do not have the power to recover the MacBook from Tehran

It says :-

And judging from Dom's latest update on Friday, the story actually has a real happy ending: The new "owners" of his laptop -- who are not the thieves -- have contacted him, apparently "mortified" about the story, and are arranging for its safe return to London.

Sadly, that means the Tumblr is now history, but it was fun while it lasted -- and a good reminder for the rest of us that services like Hidden and Find My iPhone are our friends.
