    Driving in UK

    Hi there everyone,

I am planning to start my driving lesson next week as my provisionary licence will about to end in August. Also, my mum is here for 4 months to look after my 10month old son. I need to learn asap!
    Help...help...help...

What is the practical way in learning without spending much money!

Which comes first the theory test? or the driving lesson?

Thank You for your quick reply as i really need it right away!

Hi, I think the theory test before you go on the road, but I may well be wrong, it was nearly 50 ago I took my test
Good luck anyhow and keep reading the highway code.
    Mick.

No you don't, as long as you have a current provisional licence you can start to learn.

This site should answer most of your questions.

    http://www.ineeddrivinglessons.co.uk/faq.php

I passed my test in 1969 at 17 years of age...so no worries about theory tests then.

...but my son started learning quite recently.

You do not have to take the theory test before driving on the road. However, you cannot book your practical test until you have passed your theory test (you get a pass 'code' which is needed to book the practical). Practical test waiting times can be 8-10 weeks in some towns (check the DVLA website - you can book/take your test anywhere).

Do you have access to a car to learn in? It will need to be insured and you will need to be supervised/taught by someone with experience (>2 years I think - check). Otherwise a driving school is your only option - not cheap these days.

    Good luck!
