Butuan City

I may be visiting a friend who lives in Butuan City in June. Has anybody been there? And is it safe?
I know theres not really alot to do and only 5 hotels show up on Agoda. But i don't want to waste money flying there when i could meet up elsewhere.

Butuan City is considered as one of the Peaceful City in the Philippines.... if i were u, choose Dotties or Inland Hotel... if you want to go around the town u may ride the Longest zipline in Asia the Delta Discovery Park in Bonbon, if you want to play golf, u may also play at West Highlands in bonbon also. though there's no much place for shopping coz Robinsons Butuan is currenly underconstruct... but it will open in December.. and it will be the Biggest Robinsons Mall in Mindanao it is a 5 Hectares mall with a Hotel.. also the upcoming SM butuan a 9 hectares mall... so better luck next year.. coz this year is a construction year for this City...

Butuan is safe. But if your after fun and nightlife I would forget it. And meet up with them somewhere else.. Maybe boracay or one of the top resorts.

Thanks all. I won't be looking for night life as i will be there after staying in cebu and boracay. I really just wanted some pointers. The friend i will meet , i haven't seen for a while so it will be a catch up.

i recommend Siargao Islands in surigao city, you can have side trips at tinuy-an falls, enhanted river, britannia groups of islands, or you can visit camiguin islands, Just ask this places to your friend im sure she/he knows it.

Butuan is great, my gf is from there.

Just search the net and you will find things to do and keep buisy.

Best place to stay for the money is Dotties Hotel.

You can use there bus terminal to go most places and there is express minibus to Davaou etc from outside the mall.

There is also a ferry port not far away if you wish to go further a field.
