Question Quick question! - How much money in cash are you allowed to take to Phils?

A Filipino friend is going back to Philippines to see her family again shortly and she's asking how much cash is she allowed to take on her and if she has to declare or at what amount do you have to declare?

Thanks for any help and I'll let her know any info you give.

Anything over $10,000 must be declared.

    It's an interesting one this.

Wonder what happens if more than $10,000 is declared?

    Anyone know?

    Don't you mean 10,000 peso's?

I took 32,000 peso's over on my first trip and declared it. They didn't give a damn.

Jonnijon is correct, the limit is $10,000.

Carrying anymore than that would be bonkers in my opinion as you may lose it.

It was P10,000 a couple of years ago,I don't think it's changed. Although when you go to currency outlets or banks they will not usually tell you this.

Actually both sets of answers are correct as it all depends on what currency your friend decides to bring. If it is in dollars the amount is $10,000 and in pesos it is 10,000php.

Just make sure you declare it on your declaration form. The one you fill in on the plane before you land. Do not make a false declaration.

Thanks peeps! She's taking UK £'s, think she said she was thinking of taking a bit over £1000, so she should be fine.
